March Madness is here and there are tons of grant opportunities available for nonprofit organizations. These new funding opportunities available for nonprofits, include foundational grants, small business grants, SBA loan, and crowdfunding platforms. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, many foundations, corporations, and government agencies have created emergency funds to support nonprofits that have been impacted by the crisis. These funds were designed to provide financial relief and support to organizations that are providing essential services to their communities during a challenging time. But as the pandemic subsides, many of these funding opportunities are drying up. We have listed some of the available funding opportunities below that are featured on our March Madness Grant List.

Here are some of the available funding opportunities below that are featured on our March Madness Grant List:


The Advisory Committee has given grants to the following types of organizations: Child-focused Organizations, Scholarships, Medical Research, Hospitals and Hospices, Women's Shelters, Food Pantries. Most of the grant recipients are located in Herman Pott's adopted city of St. Louis, Missouri.


The NBA Foundation is now accepting grant applications for 2023 on a rolling basis. Applications will be reviewed within 12-14 weeks of submission and only applications from organizations serving Black youth within NBA markets will be considered. Focus on promoting school-to-career employment opportunities that target Black youth ages 14-24 years old and serve a minimum of 25 youth annually across your programs. (Webinar on March 28th)


PNC Arts Alive programming demonstrates that there is an artistic outlet for everyone, regardless of age, economic background, skill level and taste. PNC Arts Alive challenges visual and performing arts organizations to put forth their best, most original thinking in expanding audience participation and engagement. Pop-up performances, mobile arts vans and the use of unusual venues are among the many initiatives supported through PNC Arts Alive. Central Ohio, Southeast Florida, Greater St. Louis, Philadelphia, Delaware & Southern New Jersey. (Deadline March 31st.)


The Awesome Foundation is a global community advancing the interest of awesome in the universe, $1000 at a time. Each fully autonomous chapter supports awesome projects through micro-grants, usually given out monthly. These micro-grants, $1000 or the local equivalent, come out of pockets of the chapter's "trustees" and are given on a no-strings-attached basis to people and groups working on awesome projects. (Grants accepted on a rolling basis)


Policy Campaign/Collaborative Grants will offer up to $100,000 in general operating funding to support timely and urgent issue-based campaigns to advance public policy through grassroots advocacy, civic engagement and community organizing aligned with our desired impacts. The total distribution amount that will be awarded this grant cycle is $100,000. The total award maybe distributed in the following manner:

• One campaign/collaborative effort receives the full grant award of $100,000, OR

• Two different/unrelated campaigns/collaborative efforts receive $50,000 each.

Organizations must submit a Letter of Intent (maximum two pages) submitted on organizational letterhead, signed by an organizational leader, and provide detail on how their proposed program meets WFSTL’s areas of focus for 2023. Applicants will be notified by April 28, 2023 if they are invited to submit a full proposal and will receive application details at that time.


Nonprofits can also explore crowdfunding platforms such as Kickstarter, GoFundMe, and Crowdfunder to raise funds from individual donors. By exploring these new funding opportunities, nonprofits can diversify their funding sources and better position themselves to achieve their mission and goals.
